Finally got my xmas gift...warning..puppy pics!!!

This year I decided to get something other than a camera....Ever since my previous hunting dog was stolen 9 years ago, I haven't tried to train another dog.

I found this breeder online and through some hunting links....and now we can welcome Max Crannell to the family...

I just got back from Atlanta where I picked him up and personally flew back with him. Didn't want anything to go wrong on the airplane with this precious cargo.

My wife Karen got him for me, and the 6 week wait was almost unbearable. Out other dog Montana is having a good time with him except when Max bites him with his sharp little teeth.

This is actually going to help me with my photography because I will be out in the fields more often and doing dog training and the photography that I enjoy.

Cute puppy, I don't think I could handle training another dog myself. My present pooch has a thing about chewing through doorson campers. He also likes tearing up floors (newly installed only ). He has learned now to open doors, even locked doors. Gee, I can't wait to have surgery next week and be gone 24 hours to see what he gets into

Cute little black lab. What type of hunting are you into?

In my home town of Willows we have a farm. This area is well known for duck and pheasant hunting. I'm not so big on the actual hunting, but having a dog that can do the work for my cousins who hunt.

It's amazing what labs can do.

    Loren,

I started to post here yesterday, but got interrupted by a phone call........then forgot until I saw the beagle pictures today.

Max and Montana are both just beautiful. I can see why you took the time to pick up Max yourself. All the shots are good, but that 3rd one with the two of them lying down together captured my heart. What a shot! I'm glad the birthday present from your wife is so meaningful! Enjoy! And I hope you post more photos.

    Thanks Liz

    Thanks Liz,

It was a great gift and he's been so great to have for the week. Karen calls him my sidekick because whereever I go, he is right next to me.

Certainly I will post more pictures since my time will be devoted to him and Montana for some time. After landing a new corporate job for a great company my time to photograph will be dramatically reduced. Him and Montana will have to be my models for awhile.

I still miss Jake (stolen dog), but Max has surpassed my every expectation.

I'm a happy dude, and it didn't take the newest electronical gadget.

Sad thing is that Montana was a rescue who was obviously beaten by his male owner. He's very scared of most men, even gentle soul Photo-John. It's very evident that Montana is a loving dog and I still cannot believe somebody could hit a dog like that. Montana still has some work to do, but we are confident that he will get through his issues with proper training and love.
