I have an A70 and I don't get images like that!!!!

Hey Max, on My A75 I use manual mode and set the shutter, and fstop. I check my histogram (you need to know this with digital, soooo many people are lost without it) and make sure I have a good whitebalance.

Ps work like all my images is under 2 min. I will make the usual adjustments to contrast, and do some burning, then if I choose I will use a creative action like my contrasoft or softar.

It all comes down to good capture.

Whenever I try to use any of the manual settings, for example, AV set to 2.?? for DOF, I never get the results I was hoping for.

One last thing. Do you use the LCD or view finder?

Are you using longer focal lengths with the wide aperture when trying to get a narrow DOF?

Yup, I like to shoot at 2.8 whenever possible.

I have to say I'm a little surprised about all the questions about the camera - put anything in Hodgy's hands and it will look like his work. The camera he used here isn't anything special, top of the line or out of the ordinary. It's a combination of his eye for composition, his technical skill at capture, as well as post processing skills. Above all else, aesthetics.

I think this post is a good example of what can be accomplished without a bag full of top of the line gear. Not that you always have to work one way or another, but sometimes it's inspiring not to think about gear (and the resulting back ache from carrying it) and just go shoot. Nice work!
