    4th of July Celebration thread

I was expecting someone to post their 4th of July shots and start a dedicated thread for it but so far I haven't seen anything other thans Seb's wonderful Chicago skyline photo. Well, not being one to wait on the crowd, here's just a few from ours here in Banning, held at Nicolet Middle School. Please feel free to post any of your July 4th shots here.

#1 Just one of many shots of the fireworks display.
    #2 & #3 Color Guard
#4 Even the older crowd made it out. These two folks were going on their 70th anniversary!!!

Thanks for posting these - I enjoyed viewing them. You captured some great fireworks. My favorite photo is the one with the vets and flag.

I did post some "patriotic" images in the July project. There isn't much response there either. Maybe everyone is still away celebrating the whole week. Even the traffic is lighter this week around northern NJ.

I "unstuck" Sebastian's thread but it's right here. Didn't get out shooting this year... Nice work, looking forward to seeing what everyone else did.

My wife's grandparent's celebrated their 70th anniversary a couple of years ago. That was the first one I'd heard of and this is the second!

Nice photos, Ray! I celebrated the 4th as I celebrate all days off - with a mountain bike ride. I posted with the thread title, Purple Mountain Majesties >>

I was planning to do fireworks photos, but our ride turned into an adventure and it was raining on and off in Salt Lake, where I am right now. So we didn't go out to watch them. Maybe next year. Sebastian's guide had me pumped to shoot, but it wasn't meant to be.

Nice shots Adina. Your daughter looks like she'll plow down anyone who gets in her way! lol

av, sorry you didn't get to shoot any fireworks this year. I'm wondering just how many from our forum actually did?? Haven't seen as many as I thought I would.

John, I read your thread and what a great story to tell! Glad you made it out safe and sound.

I did get to shoot some fireworks, but they didn't turn out as good as I would have liked. My towns fireworks display is pretty small. They usually set off one at a time, and they all go off in about the same spot in the sky. Some a little higher, than others, but pretty much in the same spot. That's why I combined 10 seperate images to make one big display (like I did last year too). I need to find a new spot to sit on the 4th, to get some forground elements in the image, but it has become tradition to cook out and watch the fireworks at a friends place.

For the second shot, I zoomed the lens while holding the shutter open to try to get something a little different.

Thanks Ray, though my personal favorite is the last post in the "Fireworks Tips" thread by BLS439. The beach setting, the fires and the fireworks just really come together in that one.
