    From My Weekend Walkabout

We're getting rain here and I love to shoot between the cloudbursts. On the college campus in Fullerton, they have this most pleasant area to visit and lollygag around in, so this past Saturday, I put on my hoodie to keep the rain off and took these shots:

Looks like a nice place to relax.
    Love that house!
When I walk about around here, I have to be careful to not slip on the ice.

I love that second shot. Very nice.

New and different stuff. I like it Penny. Looks like a very productive walkabout.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Re: From My Weekend Walkabout

Thank you so much for looking and for your kind comments.

Every week I take pictures of a "point of interest" that people can visit for an inexpensive fee (most are free) and, the pictures go into our local area newspaper in the "weekend" section to encourage people to get out and go do something with their families that doesn't cost a lot of money.

There was no one around where these pictures were taken because it was going to rain. The clouds held back until we left and then we had rain all weekend through yesterday. It was forecast that we would have rain all this week, however, its sunny with blue skies out today.

Hopefully, people will be enticed to visit the CSU Fullerton Arboretum after these pictures run in the paper!

Thank you again everyone for your encouraging input.

Wow, all are great shots but the second is by far my favorite.

Were you accompanied on your walk by the Post-Impressionist painter Henri Rousseau? ... now I can see where he got his influence.

The second image is extraordinary. Where did you put the tiger?

Alas, I fear I couldn't begin to come close to Henri's genius but, I thank you for looking at my work and for your generously kind comments.

PRB, great images. Looks like a great place to walkabout. It's very hard to walkabout here on the southern Canadian Prairies as we have up to 20 cm of snow on the ground and it has been -25 to 30° C.

    Cheers,

    Hi Penny,

As soon as I saw the first shot, I knew where you were. The Fullerton Arboretum is about 3 miles from my office and I've spent many a lunch hour shooting on the grounds.

Next time you decide to go there, give me a shout and I'll drive on up and meet you.

    Re: From My Weekend Walkabout

Thank you Western Guy, Susaan and Kokopeli.

WG --- we were slated to move to Canada earlier this year but the funding did not come through. I think I would have enjoyed the cooler weather. Please share some good snow pictures with all of us SOON!

Susaan --- I fear I am stuck being me. My favorite thing to photograph is dark saturated landscapes. Once, several years ago, over on the "Critique" section of this website someone suggested that I must be going blind because all my work was so "dark" and "oversaturated." As the years go by, I find that I shoot what I like and don't let the beggars get me down.

Kokopeli --- Brian, its SO good to see you here. We are living in your part of the world these days so, getting together sometime is very do-able! Send me a PM with your phone number and we will definitely work something out. I am sure you recognized the Fullerton Arboretum right away, did you also recognize where the above shot of the tiger was taken?

Wonderful, almost otherworldly, images you've created here. I don't know the specifics of the post-production treatment, but it works absolutely perfectly. The effect, for me, is very Where The Wild Things Are (didn't Connie Francis sing a song by that name?).

These images can't help but make one feel good.

    Love that tiger shot.
