Southern Utah weekend pics.

The destination was supposed to be Capital Reef this weekend, but some event caused all the motels to be sold out, so some quick last minute planning on Kathy's part sent us a little further west to Escalante where we grabbed a cabin for two nights, making it our base of operations for a whirlwind weekend tour of Southcentral Utah. Sat. we did Escalante State Park, hiking in the petrified forest where the wildflowers were at their peak. Later that day we also did Kodakchrome Basin and Bryce Canyon.
Sunday we devoted the morning soley to riding in Red Canyon on the Thunder Mountain trail. Temps were in the '50s and '60s all weekend with clouds here and there, but no major weather trouble. We can't wait to go back in Sept. after the kids are back in school. So here's just a few random pics from the weekend. Enjoy

Hi Penny,
Thanx for your comments. It truly is hard to take a bad picture there! I do have more to share, just need to get them off the memory card. It's much easier to fill up the card than download it. Maybe we should stir up a gathering in that area for Sept. I know there are several people from Utah on this board and it's only a half days drive for you California people. Something to think about in the coming months......
Anyway, will try to post more in a day or two.

I am going to bryce and zion area to ride in 2 weeks. I am going to be riding Thunder mountain and lots of other stuff, thanks for pumpin me up about it.

when were you thinking of being in Utah? I was thinking of flying into Las Vegas around the 18th of September.

My general plan:
Arrive in LV on the 17/18 with some friends and hang out, do camping on Sunday night in the Valley of Fire (funny you mention it!) and then when they leave on Monday, go off and do Grand Canyon/Death Valley/Lower Utah/Arches in a rental car, then maybe meet up with some friends from NY/San Francisco in LV my last weekend there. It's all hypothetical at this point But I think we could DEFINITELY work something out here!

I would LOVE to spend my 28th birthday in the Southwest, you are one lucky lady ;)
