The good news is . . . he walked away

If he hadn't, I wouldn't have taken the picture. This is a small window above a kitchen sink, about 2.5 feet square. It shows how even small windows need to have stickers for birds to make them aware. We have to watch out for our fine feathered friends!

Glad it was ok! Was it coated in something? I've never seen a bird leave a mark on a window it flew into.

That's funny, yet not funny. I am glad it walked (flew?) away from incident. It's one of those events that are funny afterwards, but not during.

Looks like the bird had just finished a dust bath by those marks.
Shame you didn't capture the impact.

Re: The good news is . . . he walked away

Before this wee, we've had no rain for months - sever drought conditions. I imagine that he had quite a coating of dust/dirt/oil before the rains came. Maybe that's why he ran into the window - too much excess stuff on his feathers and no control!

This was at my friend's house, and I had to use her camera to take the pictue as I didn't know about it until I got there. I missed the impact.

It's a really cool wing impact - I've never seen one like it.
I've seen a few birds stunned after hitting a two storey glass walkway at work - despite the hovering hawk silhouettes pasted all over it to scare them off.
