Cool Iguana Shots
At least the lovely wife thinks so! And I agree with her.
We are iguana sitting, watching Rex. We watched him last year. Poor thing didn't even have a heat rock, so we gave him Yoda's old small one. This year, Dawn bought a thermometer for his cage, and I cut him a piece of wood to climb on - which he loves! He sleeps on the thing.
He wasn't getting enough heat, so we put a second (white) light over him in the daytime, and leave his UV (black) light on at night. Last night Dawn was looking at him, and I though it would make a cool photo. So I got out the Coolpix 5700 and my bogen tripod.
Hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

I still have to develop a few rolls!
Sorry! I've been caught up in cutting window mattes and framing work. The show is up, though, so I can get back to the business of mixing chemistry and developing film. [I found a few rolls from snow this past winter that still need developing - OY.]
Soon! Very soon!

Yikes! And I thought I was behind!
I'm not hounding you, and if it seems that way, please forgive me.
I will enjoy them whether you post them tommorrow, next week, or next month. :-)

Rex is slightly over a year old. He belongs to (hang on now) Dawn's, uncle's, niece. No relation to us whatsoever. Since they knew we were lizard people (make what you will of THAT!), they asked us to watch him. And true to form, Dawn is already beefing him up. She's got him warmed up, outside, and eating right. And he's shedding, which means he's growing. It must be the nurse in her. ;-)
Yes, there are endless variations you can make about the photo. I like the Blue Iguana. It does sound like a night club. :-)
Here's a daylight shot for you of Rex.

Ohhh, those are WILD! (pun intended ;) ) Love the colors!

Not at all!
Not feeling hounded. :)
I hound myself enough.
<LOL> and at least you didn't call up threatening to divorce me like my trainer did for being so missing from the gym lately!

Was put it in the bathtub, ran hot water over it, and scrubbed it with a brush. Top, bottom, sides, and then went over it again. And again. I scrubbed it repeatedly, and rinsed it throughly. I considered using bleach on it, but was afraid there would be residue in the wood if I did - so I didn't. If I had something large enough to have boiled it in, I would have.
We're keeping an eye on him, but it looks like he's thriving living at our house. No sign of any mites or other parasites. He's bulking up quite nicely. He's also spoiled! Dawn put his food in this morning, and he came down his log, and stood at the bottom watching to see if Dawn would put some of his food in front of him (like she usually does!). He is spoiled rotten!!!

Your Off The Hook Then :)

Isn't "Dancing at the Blue Iguana" a movie starring Darryl Hannah and several other notables? It's a character study of some "dancers" in a club called the "Blue Iguana"
I think that was the name of the movie - I'll have to go look it up.
-
Yep I was right...
Dancing at the Blue Iguana
Oh yeah - nice pics - love the cool blue.

Thank You Janie

I'm glad you liked the shots.
I'm going to try some more. Different angles, compositions, more/less frame filling, etc. I'm going to experiment some, and see what I can come up with.

No Tramatic Experiences Here...

Good work with these shots Speed.
Best to You,
Penny
But we are not snake people either. We wouldn't be lizard people, except the boy wanted the iguana. He got bored with it, so Dawn took over her care, and laid claim to her.
I'm glad you liked the shots, and I'm not surprised that there is a place called the Blue Iguana.

Thanks AC!

For the super comments.
Are you a poet? Songwriter? Or do you just enjoy freeflowing expression? You definitely have a creative mind. Now Rex the Iguana will be quoted throughout the ages. :-)

Actually I'm just crazy. But the best poets and songwriters often had a crazy streak (or were just drunk all the time) so I guess ya never know!

Love those shots, Speed! I love the black light effect.
Thought you'd enjoy one of my favorite shots of one of our leopard geckos... she has unfortunately passed away :( but we still have two others. I think it's amazing that they eat their own skin! ;)

Ugh! And you think that's neat? To each his own. :-)
Great catch, by the way. That shot is awesome. Looks like something out of a sci-fi movie.
Leopard geckos are neat looking critters. Expensive too! At the local pet store they run $70. Iguana's are cheap by comparison at $25. How big do they get?
The black light makes for a neat photo. No special gear is needed either, so give it a try. Think of how neat your leopard geckos would look under a black light! That should make a very interesting shot!
