    Back In the Clan!

    Well,

My new D60 arrived today, and what can I say, it's simply beautiful. Not a scratch. I am not sure this camera was ever even used. It looks like it came straight from the factory. I am glad to be back in familiar waters after 5 months in the Sea of Oly. It's great to be back.

The 50mm 1.8 II I ordered was put on back order by the store I ordered it from. I am quite upset over this. They pretty well gave me the, you'll get it when we get it bussiness, so I am currently trying to get a refund so I can go to B&H and have it done with.

Anyway, here are my first Images with the new camera!

Looking good there John. I know all the woman are going to comment on the last one but I really like 2 and 3. Great detail and color on both. I have really enjoyed you fish photos the last few months. They have been amazing. So my eyes are pretty bad and I don't know Cannon that well, what is the lens you have on there?
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Ha,

That's awesome, the first person to welcome me back into the clan is a Samuri...

Hey Larry, thanks for the comments. The lens is a cheap plastic kit lens, but interestingly enough, it seems to have pretty outstanding quality, like its baby brother the 50mm 1.8 II. This one is the 28-90mm 4-5.6 II. It is just as cheap as the 50mm, with the same plastic mount and all, but its light, and a quick focuser, so it will do nicely until I can afford an upgrade. I love the extra 10mm at the long end. I have only had 28-80s in the past, so the 90mm is a nice touch.

I think my fish images will only improve. Now that I have a camera with a sync port, the Oly didn't, I can take full advantage of my studio strobes!

My other lens is the EF 75-300mm 4-5.6 III. It has the metal mount, and from what I can tell, a better build.

    Thanks!

All but the fish were shot with the 28-90mm. The fish was with the 75-300mm.

    Glad to be back!

    Love Canon! :yesnod:

I got it on Ebay from a guy who owns an electronics store in Springhill, Texas. Only took two days to get here. The counter was set at zero, but I know it had to of been reset. But there still is no denying the pristine nature of this camera. It could be 2002 all over again.

Welcome back to the Clan, Almo! Now all you need to do is just upload our Clan logo. :-)

That D60 was pretty pricey back when it came out. I remember contemplating buying it but it was out of my price range. Just out of curiosity what did you pay for your camera?

Your images look clean, sharp, I look forward to seeing more!

This is what I am talking about. This was taken using a strobe from the left side. Connected by sync cord.

Compare to straight on flash using an external flash gun connected to the hotshoe...

Was about to make a comment about two systems, but remembered my students read this thing. Did you keep or trade out the Oly gear?

I sold it. I had to in order to buy the new D60.

I was without a camera for two weeks...:mad2:
