CBS Sacramento bought two of my photos today...

I was first on scene to a wild and crazy CHP chase that ended in flames. This is the first time I have seen my pictures on a major tv station. I was at the right place at the right time!!

I will post some of the pictures they didn't air on a little bit.

Good job being where you needed to be.
I'm amazed they actually pay for such photos.
All the tv stations around here try to get people to send their 'news' photos in and people just willy-nilly do it and think getting their name mentioned is a big deal.

Frog. 99% of the time they don't buy photos. But on this occasion I was at the right place at the right time. The guy on the bike wiped out right in front of me not far from home. No where near a "city" but up in the "sticks" as we call it.(Never leave home without your camera) When I pulled over the CHP unit came flying up and stopped to give chase. So this is where I knew there was going to be drama. In EXTREMELY dry vegetation I see a motorcycle lying on it's side, muffler side down..whats to come next? Fire!!. So I was able to capture moments that the other freelance guys couldn't. By the time the other photographers made it to the scene..it was well past over. That's the only reason why this aired and it was a bidding war for the pictures. Every agency ended up buying those pictures for the morning news/newspapers. Probably will never happen again. But it was still cool to see my photos on every major TV agency and Newspaper, instead of the other guys. They paid me because there were no other pictures other than a chard CHP car with no smoke or flames. When the ammo from the car started firing I took cover..sounded like a war zone for a bit. Here are a couple more..

    Darin,

Congratulations for getting your photo on CBS. You not only were in the right place at the right time, but you did a great job with the photos. That's what counts!

Great job! It’s rather unfortunate but needs to be covered. We need more people like you with camera know how instead of people sending in terribly composed cell phone images of spot news.
