    so COOL!!!
were you on land or in a balloon?

    On land...

I go up to a little hill above the park where they lauch them from. Just so happened that where I was, was where they had to do the beanbag drop. So I had them hovering(sp) above me....until the wind came up. A couple days before the races, they have a community lauch. That is where they lauch a balloon from the school grounds around the valley. I had one above my house early yesterday morning.

SORRY, but the wing color is wrong for the white head they get at 5 years old (adult)

the wing color is that of a 1 year old bald eagle and the eye is that of a juvenile too

I seen 2 - 2 year old eagles and an adult yesterday

    thanks for the laugh though

Someday I'll find a real one

Just thought you would get a chuckle. It's just my warped sense of humor. I will keep looking for the real thing and post a picture when I find them.

best I can do, as nevada had it's last RECORD(2nd EVER) of NESTING Bald Eagle in 02

those birds were near carson city on PRIVATE property, which I KNOW is close to you

IN '98 Lahontan Reservoir had a pair of bald eagles nest ;)

AH but Carson lakes wetlands produces wintering eagle too at times . ALSO try Washoe lake in winter, because they are spotted there too ;)

    I grew up in Washoe...

...and I do remember seeing them out there and Carson is just over the hill. That's one nice thing about this area, everything is very close together. Lahotan is only about 45 minutes away. Nice shot of the hawk. There was a pair of those (red tails) that nested in the lights on the football field at the high school last year. The nest is still there, but I don't know if they are still there. Reno is growing so fast, that some of the wild life have to relocate. The wild horses come into the subdivisions to graze. There is an area at the mouth of Pryramid Lake that might have eagles. There is also a fish hatchery there, which is not to far from where I have seen them. Hummmm, looks like I might have to go investigate. Thank you for the sites.

the best time to find eagle in your are (so I believe) would be november - march, with the peak months in the december-feb months .

those are the months that eagles from canada are on winter territory

Fish hatchery ......... that should be a VERY likely spot ;)
