    A Small Cow Adventure

Cow's always have such great expressions on their faces, I can't resist to take their picture! We saw these as we were driving in a nearby farming area today:

They really seem to enjoy having their picture taken.

Penny, it looks to me like you were over toward the Riverside area or thereabouts. I actually want to say Moreno Valley judging from the hills in the background. In any event, I like the third one best. He's got that "look" on him that says "Don't get any closer!" I've got to take some new "moo" photos myself. Plenty of them around here.

Interesting. Cows always look rather bored or depressed to me, almost as if they know why they are being taken care of so well. And--no--I'm not some animal rights fanatic. I'm actually a hunter, but I've never seen such a look on wild and free animals. Just a thought.

So, did any of these cows escape from Wisconsin?

Of course they like having their picture taken . . . the alternative is that they become dinner!

I believe you have successfully captured what I like to call, the Welcoming Committee of these herds. Cows are very social and are quite curious about newcomers. We are always newcomers unless they see us everyday.

I do see an expression and posture in a couple of these that you were about to be 'rushed' if not actually charged.

Cows are an ongoing favorite subject of mine One safety rule, cows cannot easily make tight circles so if one chases you, get something between you and the animal and run around it to give yourself an extra step to get to safety.

I will look for 'moo' photographs from you and Happy New Year!

    Re: A Small Cow Adventure

Thanks to all of you for looking and for your comments!

Ray, we were actually driving through Chino, remember the highway that goes from Corona to Pomona off the 91 Freeway --- it goes right through all kinds of farming country and, that's where I got these shots. And, to my knowledge, none of these cows escaped from Wisconsin, but you never know...

Not to worry about any danger for me in any of these shots as there was strong fencing all around that I was shooting through. Every time I've starting taking pictures of cows, they've always been up for a photo op, and you don't always find that with other subjects. Its so rewarding!

Next, I want to find horses running on the beach --- I'll have to make a jaunt up to Grover Beach and Oceano for that but, since I notice that gas prices are going back up again, that may be awhile.

    Thanks again!

    My Best to You,
    Penny
