You have nailed it. This was a sunset with clouds lit on the bottom. This is a crop of the image, that to me, looked like mountains on Mars.

Apparently you do! Personally, I'm a technical type of guy, and creativity doesn't flow from me by any means.

I hear ya! I'm a big Star Trek fan. (No, I don't dress up like Spock or Sulu.)

These are the colors I was seeing. I normally don't take sunset photo's from my yard (boring scenery) but the colors were so tremendous, that I zoome in on the clouds to capture what I could.
