Free 8x11 Photo book from Snapfish (Expires Sunday)

NO, this isn't spam, and I don't watch Oprah! But from what I heard, Oprah announced on her show today that you can get a FREE photo book from Snapfish, but you have to order it by Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008 at 11:59 pm PT. Go to this link and start making your book.

Thanks for the link!! The timing couldn't have been better. I shot a wedding with a friend a couple weeks ago and we've been looking at different options for a photo book. I guess this just may be our answer!

Re: Free 8x11 Photo book from Snapfish (Expires Sunday)

i had clicked it and started to make one ..... then i got side tracked and didnt finish. yesterday they sent out an email saying that:

"Due to the amazing popularity of our free book offer, we've extended the time you have to create your free book to 11:59pm PST on Saturday, November 22nd.
    • The site is experiencing intermittent slowness and customer service wait times are very long. We apologize for this inconvenience.
      • The best time to create your book is on weekdays in the morning or early afternoon.
      • If you need help or have questions we recommend you click here to visit our help pages.

    • If you are getting this email there is a credit in your account for a custom cover photo book ($29.99 value).
    • Please note that you will not see the credit appear until you are on the Review Order Page - the page that has the "buy now" button.
    • Please allow 3 weeks to receive your book from the day you order it.
    • Please note this promotion cannot be combined with any other offer.

So they probbably had way more than expected and had to finish it early.

Re: Free 8x11 Photo book from Snapfish (Expires Sunday)

I don't know if any of you did this, but I did.

It was a royal PITA to convert the photos I wanted to jpg, since I sharpened them all individually. I think that took about two hours. Would be nice if the site would accept my (lossless) masters.

Uploading wasn't fast (HUGE jpgs) but the software was easy to use. The site was buggy (took me a couple of tries to figure out how to redeem the coupon) but the layout was intuitive.

I had some issues with the page templates because they offered only 4/4 and 4/3 aspect ratios, which meant I had to crop any 3/2 on the fly By the time I added captions and got everything laid out the way I wanted it, I had spent about four hours.

I submitted my book and got a shipping email two days later. I got the book delivered by UPS (shipping was $7) three days later, and I'm pleasantly surprised. The photos are generally good quality, although there is some bronzing - but not more than I see in most mass-printed things like magazines. The color and saturation are good, and it doesn't look like they edited my photos to add contrast, which is always a concern to me with suzy-homemaker photo printing. To be honest I think my biggest compaint is a typo...but that's my fault

In short, I'd use the service again because it was easy, but it would be nice to see an open aspect ratio option and I'd like to print ALL of the background pages black. The only option I could find alternates black and white, and the black pages look 100x better than the white ones.

    Hey Erik,

I'm glad someone was able to take advantage of this offer. I myself did not. I do plan on doing a book in the future, but I think I'm going to try Blurb and see how that goes.

I did try to take advantage of the offer, but was short on time - and I had a problem with trying to put it all together. I kept losing the information I had already processed. I finally had to give it up unfortunately because it was becoming too time consuming.

One problem I had - I kept getting double images. I must have been doing something wrong, but I had "twin" pages along the way - same photo and message on both pages.

Thanks for the thumbs up - maybe next time. At least I got Snapfish now!

Good report, Erik. I too was going to do one, but ran out of time. Oh well.

Mike - I just did a Blurb book. I'm extremely happy with it. I did the 7x7 in softcover, super cheap, but tip top quality. Everyone loves it - I've sold 4 of them via their website, which is probably the easiest sale site ever - just enter your social security number or tax ID, then put how much profit you want per book. Thanks to their low prices, you can actually make some money w/o gouging people. And their website/book preview is awesome. So I'd highly recommend them.
