    Another piano

I'm posting this one mostly for Penny because she liked my last one so much, but also for Villena because she wanted to see the keys this time.

I took this last night because I was looking for something backlit, and because I was looking I noticed the light was great again on my piano. So I got distracted and shot up a card of "piano at sunset". I'm having a hard time deciding which of my 35 shots I like best. I like at least 10 of them equally.

I loved this shot before, and I love this one even better. Great shot, kellybean. You've really captured a nice mood here.

Kelly this is beautiful. Very moody and puts me in a good place

What is the piece to the left of the sheet music that kinda spoon shaped? Just curious.

Kelly - Can I add to the compliments? This image is excellent. I just wanted to know, did you do it handheld or using a tripod?

I really like this, and have just one teeny nitpick...the line touching the upper right corner leads my eye out of the frame.

Ok, I'm done complaining. I felt the original version was pretty good, but this is much stronger.

    Beautiful

I love this photo everytime I look at it. The colors, lighting and lines and shadows are very dramatic. I just started to learn to play piano about nine months ago...and loving every moment.

Very nice shot, keeps your interest, my eye wanders from the shadows across the music sheet, to the little picture frame, to the reflections on the seat of the arrangement...... Very good work, But my eye also is led out with the diagonal line created on the right hand corner of the lid to the piano...
    otherwise, this is beautiful!

    thanks for sharing !

Yeah, the photo is great, but what I really love is the piano. Can I have it?

    the frame.....

The sleek, subtly jazzy frame setting is a nice touch too... Let me guess, this piano gets more Gershwin played on it than Beethoven...

Actually the frame was one of the first things I noticed, and the diagonal line of the lid led me back to the main subject.

ACK! Forgot to get back to this!! Sorry everyone!!!

Thanks, everyone, for your compliments. I'm actually surprised that it went over so well, not because it's not a good shot, but because it's such a common thing to me that it's hard to see the value in my own eyes.

Yaron, thanks for your observation about the diagonal line leading back into the shot. Interesting. I had actually worked to put the line where it is in the corner of the frame, but I think the similarity of the colors between the border and the line cause it to be emphasized more than might ordinarily. It unifies the piano with the frame, which I think gives it a more "active" feel, like you mentioned, "jazzy". But I can see how it also leads the eye out. Maybe if I change the border color, it would work better.

Funny though, I don't like jazz. The piano actually gets more Broadway, New Age, Classical, Popular and Hymns played on it than jazz.

Todd, this was handheld, ISO 100, 1/125, 5.0.

Chunk, perhaps one day I'll post a shot I like of just the keyboard, but as for the others, they're so similar to this one (slightly different angles is all) that I don't want to repeat.

Lara, that little "note" next to the sheet music is a tiny picture frame.

    Thanks everyone!!

    ps. Where's Penny???
