Oh, this is odd. I just noticed after posting the above image that I can actually see my reflection in the horse's eye and the flash going off on my 550ex.

We have a self portrait thread going somewhere her on Viewfinder. This one is definitely a candidate for it.

Took a while to find this thread.

Here's one from yesterday. Shot with the Canon $80 version.

Every time I see an image like this I wonder why I let that little cheat lens spend so much time in the bottom of the camera bag and not attached to a body ready for action. Nice one Loupey.

    Thanks, OT.

While raking, my daughter found some acorns so I attached a 12mm extension tube behind the same 50mm f/1.8 and took this.

Does it still count if I use a tube? :)

Saw this one of the dog in the leaves in the gallery first! Very good shot. Did you have to bury the pup or did it graciously help you out on its own by sitting in deep leaves:p?

    A great fall choice.

It counts and is still another reason we should all carry one at all times.

My daughter and I went for some hot chocolate and coffee last night while waiting to pick up my son at the fitness center. I happened to have my 50mm mounted (no, really!) so I took a quick grab shot - bad ambient lighting and all.

    Uncropped and shot wide open.

Looks like this thread could use a bump...here's a few photos of Stephanie, one of our newest church members. She came over the house to help my wife with a project tonight and she let me take a few snaps on the fly.

XTi in manual mode, f/6.3 @ 1/80th, Alien Bee B800 with Octabox. I should have opened the lens a bit more as I had to up the brightness a little in my RAW converter.

Our new puppy we brought into the family a month ago. Wanted to photograph him before he got even bigger.

Shot with the aforementioned lens this past Labor Day weekend.

The 50 f1.8 and it's various cousins are wonderful for so many kinds of photography. I used mine last month to do a ton of available light shots at a wedding. Hope some more people will help revive this old thread with their 50mm shots.
