    Photos from cardiac surgery

These are from an off pump coronary artery bypass surgery (OPCABG). I purposely cropped out the surgeons and staff for posting. That is the heart that you see being held up so the grafts can be sewn on.

Do you have any photos of a tonsillectomy? Because I'm going to be having one very soon.

    Hey Kelly,

Just imagine a small flower bulb being snipped off. It is really nothing for youngsters, but can be a big issue for Adults. You need to ensure you don't cough too much post op and nothing rough, only liquids.

Did you get the email I sent you.

    Tab...

These photos are very vivid and brings home how amazing it is what those surgeons can do. How were you able to get in there with a camera. I'm new-ish so if you have previously told this info, sorry. The cutting off of the faces only enhances the focal point. You did a good job in a situation that must have been awkward.

I'm also curious how you got access to photograph this? Medicine (especially vascular and micro neurovascular surgery) is a big dream of mine, and I'd love to observe/shadow during a surgery (hey, I'd even settle for urology). It'd be even better to photograph it I'm sure :-p.

Either way, good work. I've enjoyed running across these on this board.

I took these for a presentation on off pump bypass surgeries. Most large hospitals especially teaching institutions have there own photographers, part of the A/V departments. With all the cutbacks this may not be as true as it once was. This was in a small hospital and does not. I have taken cardiac photos in the past and the surgeon wanted some new ones for a presentation.
