These are great as usual. What lens are you shooting with in #2 and #4 - I like the composition and the bit of distortion.

    Hodge...

These photos are so wonderful to me. Others can comment on the technical stuff, but what I see are some real moments that you caught. These are the kind of photos that people cherish of their wedding day and also that others don't mind looking at. There's nothing worse than going to someones house, sitting down on their couch with the HUGE wedding album right in front of you on the coffee table. one word. booooooriinnnng. Yours are anything but. I just read on another post that someone called a photo "hodgified", well if that has anything to do with you, they should be complimented! These photos seem like you are invisible to others in the room. I love them.

    Back When I Was Film

Hey thanks. These are also very old photos, all taken with a Canon AE-1, the negs were scanned, and only PS is colorbalance and the borders.

    Here' s a question, Hodgy:

I've been thinking about getting the Sigma f/2.8 EX Diagonal Fisheye for a while. I just think it would make for some very interesting shots at weddings, parties, etc. - What are your thoughts on the practical application of a fisheye vs. a super wide lens? Will I get more use out of the superwide or is the fisheye even worth it?

Oops - that' s like two questions... sorry [laughing]

Well a fisheye is a great lens to have, but it has it's time and place. It's a lense you will use, but maybe every so often. I have a 17-40 F4 that I use everyday, it's wide enough for me now, and so far, it's paid for itself over and over.

We must be on the same wave-length, because I was just now on B&H looking at Zoom Super Wide's in that range. The prices look good.

Looking at your photographs, I really think I can get the effect I see in my mind with the super wide - I guess the fisheye can wait for a while.

I know your question was for Hodgy, but......fisheye lens would come in Really handy when the bride is in a small salon, or small dressing room, thats for sure!

Power Outtage kicked me off before I could say.........
Hodgy, These are awesome ! I love the use of angles ( i see you use that alot in your work, and always successfully, it seems)
I love the DOF on the one with the Little boy, Was he sleeping? The Fourth Image, I'm not so crazy about, I guess because your other images capture people, as if you were a fly on the wall ( a very gifted fly, i might add) and the one of her on the couch doesn't convey that feel ( just personal taste) Its a good picture Technically. I really like the ones of the guys as well, and the last image is beautiful, but the bottom (where the grass ends and the dirt begins) is a little distracting.

You say this is when you were shooting Film, Were the b&w ones B&W to begin with? Or did you shoot all color back then, then change to b&w? Just curious

    Great job!

Sheesh, where were you ten years ago when I got married. I am tempted to take the one on the bridge of all the guys and hang it on my way and say it was my wedding! these are great as usual!

When I shot film, I had 3 canon AE-1's with me. One had agfa optima II color film, another had Kodak Tcn 400 B&W, and the 3rd had Tmax 3200 rated at 1600. I switched lenses between my 50,85, and 17mm. Almost all the candids were 100% B&W. I had a pro4filter system and mounts on all my lenses so that I could switch the filters Pro4 filter system

Now, I apply everything in post processing!
