Open House, well it is now...

A guy fell asleep driving tonight and I spent two hours freezing while shooting this for the paper. These are a couple that were not sent to the paper. There was a girl injured in the home, she had been sitting in a large chair where the wall used to be in the front. She'll be ok but will have a long recovery. The driver was uninjured. Another fire dept. was called in from a neighboring county that specializes in collapsed structures and shoring up damaged structures to help shore the house up so it wouldn't collapse.

The "Majestic homes" signs in the back of the truck are rather ironic.
And the name, Frank Toon, give a slightly surreal note to the whole thing.
Oh, and does it say "Damage estimates" on the sign too?

Ummm, yeah, the guy works for Majestic Home Repair and it does say "Hail Damage", very ironic. I wondered if anyone would catch that and sure enough you did SW. That was one lucky girl though! As was the driver since he walked away unhurt.

You know I actually thought about that myself while there. I was at a house fire last Sunday and the guys house was so packed the firemen could barely move in it, but then neither could the fire....fortunately for him. This house appeared really clean and well kept. It even has a new roof on it.

Wow, that's a very bad night for all involved. The "Majestic homes" sign jumped out at me as well - irony hardly even fits for a scene with 1/4 of a house torn away and a gigantic mess.

Re: Open House, well it is now...

Well the photos that I sent to the paper got good use, three on the front page with one very large and it was the headline story of the day beating out a visit to the county by the Govenor and some other big area news. I've had small photos on the front page but never a large one so that was a surprise.

That's so darn freaky and scary. Thank god nobody was killed. Please tell me this guy wasn't drinking. Who the heck has so much garbage in the back of his truck? He must not have a wife, cuz that would never fly with me. lol

My first (OK, only) published photo was the front page picture for the local paper.
I could only go downhill from there

John, did you see this story on channel 13. They rock, and roll(ed right through the house). It is surprising that no one was killed. This kind of stuff is what I live for if my local paper would get on board and start buying some shots for me I would do more of it.
