What gel to put on flash to match Daylight?

I've been extremely happy with the pair of Paterson 300w strobes that I use for product & portrait photography. I have a Nikon SB-800 that I'd like to use as a hairlight or a third light, but my flash has a different color temp that my strobes do. I use the Daylight WB while shooting with the lights, and I'd like to get my SB-800 to match that.

I've started reading up on filters for lights, and its gonna take me a while to learn them!

Well, I'm not sure why your on-camera flash would be different (would think it would also be daylight-balanced), but if you need to make small modifications to the color temp output, the best way would be to go with a flash filter.

Bogen, Cokin, and Calumet (to name a few) make them. Look on B&H's site under Lighting Accessories. You can either get an assortment pack, or find very specific filters to alter the temp in precise increments.

The other possibility is to use masking and make color corrections to individual areas of your shot in photoshop...

Alright, I'll have to try that. I have a friend who works in a performing arts center, and I think he was one of the swatch books with all the filters in it.

When I use the flash & strobes together having my WB set to daylight, the areas the strobes are hitting comes out in a bluish color.
