Welcome all to the "New and Improved" Studio & Lighting Forum...

Let me be the first to welcome everyone to the new format Studio & Lighting Forum. I'm your moderator, Asylum Steve, and lemme tell ya, just the thought of now being able to add SMILEY FACE ICONS to my posts has me almost squealing with delight!

    Uh, almost... :)

Ok, all new bells and whistles aside, what I'm really excited about are the things that WON'T change from the old format, namely a friendly, convenient online resource for most (if not all) of your STUDIO and LIGHTING questions and discussions.

While I realize those two small words encompass an absolute HUGE amount of photographic knowledge and information, I'm also confident we have the people here in our forum community to handle whatever you can throw at us.

Personally, I don't have ALL the answers (heck, I may not even have most of them). But I do have A LOT of them, and better yet, I know others who also have a lot of them. And when we're all stumped, we'll be sure to point you in some direction where you'll have a good chance of getting more information.

For what it's worth, the only forum rule I'd like to emphasize right off the bat is the one that's common to all the forums on this site: please show respect for all the members that post here. There's nothing wrong with disagreeing (or even strongly disagreeing). That's what keeps things interesting.

Just remember that we have members of ALL skill levels and backgrounds, and there will be quite a melting pot of ideas as to what makes an interesting or good photograph. Many (hopefully most) here will be brave enough to share both their successes as well as their mistakes with us so we might all learn from them.

Well, it's a New Year, we have a great new forum, and a lot of you have NEW EQUIPMENT and NEW IDEAS you're itching to try out.

    Lets' get started!

    -Steve

Hear Hear Steve, totally agree with your sentiments. When everyone else is here will be great as it has been in the older forums.

    Hey Brian,

How bout an encore shot of the lovely Michelle, voted number one va-VOOM model of 2003 by, uh, a select panel of, er, EXPERTS. Yeah, that's the ticket...

BTW, I could tell you how I lit this, but nobody really cares about that, now do we? ;)

I don't know if you caught it, but the last pics I posted in the old forum were of my recent shoot with Thai model Julie. Didn't come out too bad, either.

Stay tuned. Much more in the works...

Va-Vroom, Va-Bump more like it. Do you think she would break her nose if she fell over. Great Air Bags. Sorry, just kidding about that. How did you do the lighting and what post proccessing did you do to get the image effect you have shown here.

Oh yeah! That's what I'm talkin' about!!

Now if we can get Charles to bring back a few of his lovelies and discuss his "lighting techniques" we'd have the makings of something special. :P

Thanks for rising to the challenge Steve.

Ok, all joking aside, this was a real shoot that produced good pics for the model and her agency. The light was a single soft box in front. The original was a bw Polaroid proof print that was then levels and color tweaked a bit in ps.

All joking aside, I apologise, it slipped out, I am going to the whiping post for awhile and will grovel back.

Thanks for the info, as always.
