    strobe vs. continuous?

    Hi,

New to the group and have a question... I am looking to purchase a studio kit and see many different setups (and costs). I shoot w/ a Nikon DSLR. There is an ebay store where I have purchased equipment before and have been happy. They sell both the strobe and continuous kits and are touting the continuous as the optimal setup for digital photography. They do say they are significantly cooler than the "hot" lights of old. I am wondering if this is just a ploy to sell them or if there is truth to this concept. BTW - both style kits are similar in price.

    thanks,

    GregM59,

Welcome to the site... I don't know much about lighting, but what are you trying to shoot?? This will make some difference. Also, what setup do you have?? Camera, flash, and remote triggers??

Others here can help with this info...

Also, it is nice to see another Michigander on the forum..
