I relied on the softbox being about 4x the size of the kitten, coupled with the fabric background, to manage the shadows.
Is that shadow under the chin a problem?

Maybe a small piece of foamcore or something to reflect/fill in a bit. Overall, looks pretty good from here.

I'll continue to use dual flash then, just to fill it in a bit.
Totally even shadowless lighting seems to take away from the shape of the kitten.
So I don't want it completely shadowless.
I think the lack of reflection off the cushion helps.

I actually think it gives the shot some texture and a realism. The shadow really isn't something that attracts my attention until you mentioned it. Nice shot.

I'm worried about overdoing the lighting and flattening/filling it too much.
Pleasantly surprised with the results of this softbox, even on a 580EX, it is soft light.
