Shiny lighting

Hi all,

I'm doing some reference shots of some art work with a dSLR. It's not fine art repro or anything. I've stumbled on a few pieces that are behind glass and the reflections that come with it. Can anyone suggest a way of getting rid of them effectively? So far I've been shooting them on the wall, using ambient light and sometimes the spots that have been used to light them on the wall.
Any suggestions would be awesome!!

Hi filafera,

Use a large black sheet or card at the camera position. Cut a hole in it for the camera lens to stick through. You may have to light the pieces from the side, but hopefully the sheet will prevent any room reflections...

Thanks for the advice! I'll try it out a soon as poss! I had tried a white sheet but hadn't put a hole nor thought of a black background.

No problem. Keep in mind the black card or sheet I mentioned is not the bg, but rather at the camera position. IOW, perpendicular to the front of the lens...
