    OK, I'll bite. How did you get the background so much darker in the second I-pod shot?

    Very good question! ;)

    Notice how in the first setup shot the softbox is tilted towards the camera? That's the trick. When the softbox was hanging straight down, the spill would light the backdrop. By tilting it forward, it kept the illumination of the subject the same, but greatly reduced the amount of light hitting the paper in the back.

    Apparently "those in the know" call this feathering or something...

    (I made that last sentence up)
