    Help-Studio lighting for rock band

I am a student and have a fashion shoot tomorrow night. I could use some advise on my lighting.

I have a rock band coming with five members. My teacher says keep it simple (KISS...)
but has advised me that each member will have to be lit individually. They will be spread out with 2 keyboards in rear, then 2 guitar players and in front middle the lead singer.

I want to simulate a live preformance with this set up, but also want to do some tigher group shots and some individual promo head shots (I know all in the same set up...not asking much am I?).

I have access to a large amount of lighting options alien bees in 800, 1200, 1600 and 3200, six hot lights, softboxes, umbrellas and an Octa dome.

I have three color gels I would like to use to light the parachute backdrop, red, blue and purple.

I have never worked with this many lights before and I am wondering what combination would work best.

    Confused yet? ...me too...head swirling...

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

I would use a single LARGE umbrella with your most powerful flash.

    A 60" or 72" would work well.

Place the light high and slightly to one side of the group. If you have the ceiling height, I would move it up to about 10 feet.

Crank up the power to the max, or if you can, mount two heads on the stand to increase the output.

    Good luck
