Having fun with Febreeze and Britek BB-50s

I mentioned in Viewfinder that I know of a former photographer who had a set of inexpensive studio strobes she didn't use anymore, and they turned out to be Briteks. So, I tried my hand at a quick photo, although I can see that I will need to practice on where to place the lights. They seem to perform about as the same as my cheap 2 - tungsten light setup but with much less hassle in setting up (not to mention looking better if I were to take them into a home or business). They came with silver reflectors but I'm thinking of changing them to white ones to soften the light more.

Tomorrow I actually take a portrait of someone with this set up, so I'm a bit nervous but I'm sure it should turn out halfway decent.

oh, and I love the smell of febreeze!

Go to your local photo store and get a pair of reversible silver/white umbrellas or some shoot through ones that have a removable black backing so you can bounce through them. That way, you can keep the original reflectors for that old school hard edged look and go soft with a bouince or shoot through when you need to. 48" would be a good place to start. Check out the link that I put in Megan's post about free lighting schemes and ideas from Photoflex, it might help out a bit.

do you think 48" might be a little large? These lights are somewhat small. I was thinking maybe a 36"?

Your're right on the size, I didn't google the lights till after the post. Did you get the funky umbrella mounts with the lights?
