    Dance team and class photos

The High school photography club that I advise will be doing the class, team and senior portraits for our dance department this year. We wanted to come up with something different, other than the usual posed group shots. Has anyone got any sites, or book suggestions that we might be able to come up with some posing and lighting schemes? We are using a Nikon D-70. Locations available are the dance room or outside. We have access to a 2 lite photogenic 1250 lite kit with umbrellas or our lowel hot light location kit (2 onmi's and 2 tota-lites). I was thinking a South Florida style shoot, on the beach at day break with heavy flash fill. Some of this will get lost in the repro since the programs are done in B/W. Maybe having the soloists Jump and catching them with the strobes to create motion?

All ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Oh, there's too many links to post, but google "dance photography" and follow the links. Lots of ideas there.

You aren't kidding. I'm also looking for tech specs to get an idea on the whole lighting issue. I did just assign the topic "Motion" to the photo club and half of them immediately thought of the dance project. I can't wait to see some of their ideas. Thanks for the nudge. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the ones that are right under your nose.
