Re: Concepts for lighting and digital photography

I am looking for a table top set up that I can run alone. I need to have my hands free so I am thinking that a remote shutter release would need to be activated by my foot. I will need a monitor set up so I can see if lighting etc... is right before using the remote. This set up would help me in publishing how to books that is why I need my hands free while taking photographs. Hands are showing the how to do something on the table top.
I was told that a Nikon D3000 would do every thing I need. I bought one but I am finding that the remote is not working from under the table with foot and I can not get a monitor to hook up the the camera that shows what is going on.
    Any help would be great!!!
    Thanks

Re: Concepts for lighting and digital photography

I have no idea how to make this a new thread...so I'm adding to this one.

I have an old set of Interfit 250 monolights. It's been so long since I've used them that I don't really remember how to set them up. Can anyone steer me to a good link for setting up and using monolight strobes? They don't seem to work, but before I spring for 2 $50.00 replacement bulbs, I'd like to see if it's operator error! I contacted Intrerfit and they do not have a manual for that model. Thanks in advance for your help.

Has anyone seen those new lights that basically look just like paper lanterns to humans but when digitally recorded they are color stripes that move? Really interesting invention but not mass produced yet. I imagine it has a really limited market.

I want to photograph oil paintings inside for use where high. Quality digital images are needed. What would be the best lighting for this?

2 lights 45 degrees off axis positioned at either end of paintings. Don't need strobes either, regular household bulbs will do if they are equal distance and equal power. Paintings don't typically move around a lot on their own.

setting a white balance is very essential for taking colour photos and check your white balance and then try. if this is not a problem in your cam, please try something else. white balance is common for costly cams and camera mobiles.
