    WNBL Basketball

    Hello All,

Been a long time since i posted here - Have been really busy...Too busy for any editing, but been taking photos

These are some photos from the WNBL, The Womens National Basketball League, Highest level comp in australia for female basketball.

Photos from the game of BENDIGO SPIRIT (blue) v TOWNSVILLE FIRE (white) - Bendigo is my home town team and is captained by 4 time olympian and former WNBA player Kristi Harrower. Bendigo went on to win the seasons championship after almost folding 1 year earlier due to financial reasons...a great turn around!

I have tried shooting basketball before but always struggled with lowlight - I managed to convince my wife to let me buy some new gear, so recently i have picked up a new body (Canon 650D) and 3 new lenses, Tamron 70-200mm F/2.8, Canon 50mm F/1.8 and Sigma 50-500mm F/5-6.3 - These were all taken with the Tamon 70-200mm

Great capture of expression on these shots. The ladies often are the best for being expressive dure a contest. That new equipment should serve you well. The 70-200 f2.8 Nikkor is my prime go to lens for basketball it should do the trick for you.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Great action! The facial expressions and timing in these is photos is really good. It looks like these girls are really battling.

Congratulations on the new gear. I just snapped up a Canon T4i / 650D, too. The price drop after the T5i / 700D was announced made it almost impossible for me not to. I already have a 7D so the image quality was pretty much a known factor. I bought it mostly for studio work and video. How hard are you pushing the ISO for these photos?

Photo-John : Had the F set at 2.8 and shutter speed at 1/800 - ISO was set to auto and was going between about 3000 and 5000
