    Red face New to site

    Hi All,

    Glad to be here.

    A little bit about myself:
I am a Communications major - emphasis in PhotoJournalism, Sports Photography.

I am learning about apertures, ISOs, f-stops, and other pertinent tools to assist me in capturing the best sports photography this side of town. I don't know if there are very many female sports photographers, but nonetheless, I love it.

I just acquired PhotoShop 7.0 and am still learning how to use it. I have tried on several pictures now to sharper my images and where the vibrant colors stand out. What I'm findind is I still have much to learn.

Any tips on how to use Photoshop? And my favorite sports to photography is baseball. Any suggestions on using the correct settings? For instance, I took photos at my son's baeball game. It was gloomy and often times cloudy. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Annie

    Welcome Annie,

Post some examples and we'll help you out, it's hard to give advice when we can't see whats going on. Also, what camera body and lenses are you using?
There are also tons of threads that may help you out and you can do a search to find those. We also have at least one person who pretty much shoots nothing but baseball as well as those of us who shoot all kinds of sports in all kinds of conditions......speaking of which, I wonder if SW has dried out yet?

here's a tip for photoshop...definitely use it. A lot of photographers don't really understand that taking the photo is only half the battle. Post processing is the other half. You can have a great shot, but if you don't know how to edit it, it will never pop like you want it to. learn curves, unsharp mask, cloning, saturation, levels, and etc. It will help you a ton. When I finally started learning photoshop, my photos improved about 10 fold.

    Welcome, Annie.

To go along with what Brent said, buy a book. Get a good photoshop book that will teach you how to use the different tools, or take a class or two on the subject.
