    400 lb Frisbee

A lesson in being quicker than a flying bike, I should have ran sooner! I got these shots after the landing, to close for comfort! The bike, destroyed rider amazingly fine...the removal, not so easy. Yep, they had to move it UP HILL!

Glad you're OK! That would definitely be worse than being hit by a linebacker. One of the big things people don't understand about getting the shots we get is the tendency for that "great" position to get us hurt. I was once told by a friend at SI that if you've never been hit you're not getting "the shot". Be careful out there.

I got hit at a go cart race once and destroyed a BetacamSP Camera, it's lens and got hurt pretty bad. I did get the shot along with my reporter screaming in the background "Oh my god he's F'ing dead." it was classic. But at least you weren't that close, or having to use a heavy betacam ;). it is a great series as usual, which is a great thing to have as usual.

Good series Lori. I think all good sports photographer put themselves in the line of fire at times. If they are not willing to do that they sometimes miss the shoot of a life time.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

You are something else getting this close to the action. Fantastic sequence.

I'd take a hit again by a pack of hs football players any day over one of these bikes flying at me. WOW!

Glad you and and rider are ok.

Very nice! Good job not freezing up. That was an expensive track day for that rider. I speak from experience

Wow, glad you're alright Lori. I don't think I've ever seen anything jump the wall there. The angle he was coming in, with that much speed, seems a bit odd. He must have gotten something very, very wrong in the chicane to end up in that direction.

His bike was all over the place, I think I knew he was going down before he did. This happened in 2007 too, the SpeedTV almost had a stroke lol thats why they moved 11 back.........so much for that plan lol Here they are pulling what was left of the bike out of the tires, the rest was over the fence!
