    Mountain Bike Endurance Racing

I was part of a team that participated in the Epic Rides 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo endurance race last month. And since we were a large corporate team I had lots of time to shoot photos before my laps. Here are a few. I think I would like a fast lens though -- hopefully in the next few weeks I'll order a Nikon 80-200 f2.8 for occasions like this.

The first and second shots are great. The third is a good perspective but the lighting isn't great. Looks like a rock got in the way of your 4th one there. Looks like a fun event.

I was experimenting with framing on the 4th one. I think it would have helped if I had a longer lens (maybe?). I did order a Nikon 80-200 f2.8 this afternoon so I'll try again next week at the St. Patty's Day Feast at Bootleg (downhill race). I'm excited!!!!!

    Looks good!

If that rock was a more out of the way I think the framing would have worked out better. It looks like some fun terrain to go riding in though

Yeah you've got the right idea. The longer lens would help keep the focus (of the image) on the rider - you want the rider to dominate the frame. As jorgemonkey said, a little less rock in the frame would do the trick. You know, try to make more of a "frame" out of it than really get it in the frame.

As always, practice makes perfect, and it looks like you've got a great start.
