Re: Post your racin wrecks
I really need to start shooting races.
Re: Post your racin wrecks
Same here, I need to find some tracks and bring the camera along. I really like #2 & 4 of the first set.
Re: Post your racin wrecks
Thanks,
I have about a thousand wreck shots from 5 years of action. I'm still digging for some of these gems. But wait til ya see the three bus figure 8 crash :) I'll post that tonight.
#4 is one of about 20 of that crash. This is one time I was glad to have that 8fps and 20 frame buffer. Whew, and think, the MKII N is 8.5 fps and 45 frame buffer...I can't wait!
Re: Post your racin wrecks
No wrecks yet, fortunately for the drivers !
Re: Post your racin wrecks
Some really nice action here John. Wish I could participate, but alas my only race stuff is on slide and no way to get it posted. The one I remember the most though is of Buddy Baker hitting the wall in turn 3 at Bristol and flames shotting out everywhere. I think that one was from 1972.
Re: Post your racin wrecks
JS,
Those are quite crisp (especially number 4 in your first set) for being indoors. Well done, and great shots!

OT, you know Stock Car Racing magazine would probably pay you to run some of those old shots! It might be worth getting a scanner to scan those slides.
The good ole days with the good ole boys...when racing was really racing, no restructors, no limits!

THanks Jared,
Those were shot with a 1D and (at the time) my new Sigma 70-200. We''ll see what we get next week at Ft Wayne with the new gear....I will probably have a lot to add here!

Never thought about that. Well you have given me a pitch for the wife to justify the expense.

Re: Post your racin wrecks
Those are amazing! My Dad used to race cars. I'm going to have to send him the link to this thread. In all of my life I've never been.
Re: Post your racin wrecks
Nice job there Photo John! Also, glad you resurected this one as I tried finding it once and couldn't:confused:
I like the first one and the guy in the background, although a bit blown out you can tell whats going through his mind.....:D

I just searched this forum for the word "crash." That's how I found it. Hopefully people will keep adding to it. Maybe you should make it into a sticky. I'd like to see it get more attention and people start adding to it regularly.

Thats an idea, I'll give it a try :)

Re: Post your racin wrecks
Photo John, your pics make me feel pain. lol Was the rider ok?
JS, I see the guy flying over on the right and maybe someone on the left? Please tell me the two women on the left are blabbing and do not even notice the wreck to their right.....

JETA,
It goes like this, the rider who is the guy flying through the air suddenly turned right and took out the flagman who was standing a couple feet behind the two women who are doing the scoring. The flagman never even saw him coming! The flagman is the guy in orange just on the other side of the quad. The two women never saw it until after the quad hit the fence. The flagman was probably better off not seeing it coming. No one hurt though, thats the amazing thing.
