    Puma in the forest

For the non petrolheads amongst you, the car is a Ford Puma and it's taking a left hand bend

Plenty of opposite lock there !
Nice picture of the car, but there's no context to it.
Problem is I can't see how you'd get that without wider angle, to get more background.
That makes the car smaller and you don't get the detail in the shot.

Difficult, I've not tried shooting rally before, only track events.

    Cool

Hey, straightarm! Good to see a post from you.

There's some good action here. But I agree with the Wombat. I am confused when I look at this photo. I need to see more of the course to really get a feel for what's happening. At first I thought you'd made a mistake and they were actually beginning a turn to the right - getting it pitched out and sliding. And then I realized that they must already be way into the turn and counter-steering. But since I can't see where they came from or where they're going, it ends up feeling weird. Like SmartWombat said, it's a lack of context.

On the other hand, timing, color, exposure, sharpness - they're all as perfect as you can get.

What are you shooting with now, anyway?

    Re: Cool

The car was pretty much headed straight for me; I was just off to the side of the next straight. Due to the layout of the forest, you didn't really see the cars until they reached the bend; you heard them though.

    Re: Puma in the forest

I do quite like the illusion of speed in the shot. Lots of opposite lock and dust flying in the air. Just that I'd want to see more of the dust behind the car. And maybe something more. Now the composition itself is very static, and that sort of contradicts with the speedy subject. Giving the cars a surrounding makes shots more interesting in most cases.

I'm quite happy with this one from 2003 Rally Finland.
