Just need some constructive feedback on these Kiteboarding shots

Took out the D700 along with my 600mm f2.6 and the 1.7 TC. I have mixed feelings about the compositions. One can't get the kite and the surfer without having the surfer look like a speck so I chose to cut out the kite. Some of the tricks were outstanding so i mixed it up in terms of distance. I left some of the shots a bit distant because I wanted to capture the perspective( ie. the bridge, the bay and the mountains). Does this work or should I ceop tighter and forget the perspective? I need some help on these compositions.

You seem to have a lot of there backs try to get the facial expressions

You are so right! It was frustrating , because they did almost all of the jumps looking the other way and I would have been shooting into the sun if I tried to move to the other side.

    Thanks for the feedback

That was what I first thought of too. No faces. I suppose it would be difficult to yell at them to look and say cheese.

Those are pretty cool, but I too would like to see the faces... and maybe the boarder and the kite in portrait format.

it´s hard to take pictures of kiteboarders. the kite ost mostly over 20m away from the rider but it should be on the picture all the time!
the perfect time for taking those pics is when the kiter goes with his kite in the power-zone. the kite is very near to the water than, but most times he wont jump when the kite is in that position.
but i remember a photo from an action photographer i know:
    http://www.jenshogenkamp.com/photos/h_M7R1100.jpg
but you need to be very close for such stuff...

when you only want to show the kiter i would crop it closer. probably it wasn´t the best background ... :/
but you can see the heights of those jumps which is most important to me. anyway, nice shoots with awesome background blur!

    cheers

(you´re lucky that you have wind there ;) . here in germany my fave-spot is having so less wind this year -.-)

I think if you're shooting wider, then get the kite in !
It looks like a nearly good day, you didn't have the light and the wind, and their faces. But you had at least two of them at a time
