those are some very brave.....and cold....sould out there. Great shots. I kow the air temp there was around 10 C but still the wind down at the shore line has to be finger numbing while you're shooting.

haha actually yesterday (january 6) the air temp in new jersey was 70 degrees. The water was still in the 50's but the warm air helped.

Re: Surf / Bodyboard / Waves

Oh yes, that last one is good.
Light on his face, the board wake down the wave, he's looking into the frame.
I'm a little distracted by the out of focus wave top at the bottom of the image though.

The shots of him in the wave #4, #5 don't have that great light on the face in #8 and the last image, that light makes all the difference.

The penultimate shot would be really great with a different crop I think, I feel he's too central and cropping off the left edge of the image might help. Try a few and see how you feel.
I know myself from motorsport photos it's hard to use alternate focus points when the light isn't good, and the camera manufacturers put the most sensitive focus points in the image centre.
Note to Canon, on the 1DSmkIII put two high sensitivity focus points like the centre point, one at each side of the focus points. It will help my composition immensely.
