Busy weekend coming..and a different approach

Well this coming weekend will be interesting to say the least. I'll be shooting high school basketball Friday night, then Saturday I have two football games to shoot about 80 miles apart. Game #1 is the annual IU vs Purdue Big 10 football game at IU. I'll be taking photos of one player from IU who went to school in our county and is a running back at IU. Shooting only one player is a whole different deal and means I just have to try and keep track of him in a crowd of 100+ people in red.
The nightcap starts at 6 pm and is a semistate championship game for class 1A (smallest school class). This too will be different in that the "target" of my attenbtion will be the head coach of the home team, not the game or players. This coach lives in our county and has coached this neighboring county football team 39 years and is retiring after the season. He's won everything....except a state championship and his present team is just one game away from the schools second ever state finals berth. They are also undefeated, only the second time they have done that too.

So although I have two more football games to shoot it won't be the same as usual just watching two people, not the each play. It should lead to some interesting shots though.

I can't beleive it is just two weeks and a few days before the state finals! Where did the season go?

First I should say: Go Hoosiers! ('01 IU Alum.)

The shoot of the "old" coach sounds very intrsting to me. The whole feel of your photos will be so different than "just" the excitement of the action. Sounds like a great opportunity.

best of luck. can't wait to see some results.

Yup, it will be different for me. I am so accustomed to shooting action all the time. The one thing I do know is I will have photos that will end up on the front page of the sports as the feature story or, if I'm real lucky it will end up the Page 1 feature. In 5 years I have had one Page 1 feature. But for this paper it could very well be page 1 material, win or lose.

Well, next week just changed...instead of one game next Wednesday I have 3 in one night. This makes the next week really interesting, with this Saturday thrown in I will shoot 10 events in 4 days. 2 Saturday (football) 3 Wednesday (basketball), 2 Friday (football) 3 Saturday (football).
The added event for Wednesday is The Key Bank Tipoff Classic at Conseco Fieldhouse starting the 2005/06 boys basketball season in Indiana. This is a big night for Indiana basketball and the nations top player will be playing in the nightcap as Lawrence North and Greg Oden take on Lawrence Central. Going to be one busy week!!! And most of it will be for a website & magazine.
