    two 5D (minolta) questions.

Okay, two very different questions, but no need for two threads.

Very simple - my 5D keeps saving files as .jpeg and not .jpg - there are some compatibility problems i have with that, they need to be .jpg - its done it before, in fact its very strange in how it does things. it sometimes does .jpg, but most often does .jpeg - particularly as of late. also - sometimes instead of saying PICT0123 it will say _ICT0123... whats up with that?

and second question - noise reduction - is it allright to keep it on at all times? or should i only use it when shooting 800 and up? how effective is this noise reduction really, anyway?

    Re: two 5D (minolta) questions.

Just looked at all my non-raw files, and they are jpeg. It may be a long shot, but do you always shoot in the same setting? As for the numbering, never seen or heard of it.

Noise reduction can supposedly affect sharpness. I never use it in camera, but just use Noise Ninja if there's any noise. Haven't had any problems though until 1600 iso.

Not sure about the .jpg or .jpeg will need to check.
But on the other question if you select the Adobe RGB color mode without the embeded profile it will name the files _ICTxxx.

I have not encountered any with my 5D but will check it out as well now that you have mentioned it. Thanks for sharing.

just to follow up - adobeRGB makes every file start with _ict instead of pict, and every jpeg shot in embedded adobe RGB has the file extension .jpeg instead of .jpg...
