Shooting advice & tips for TSC T200

    Hello

I bought the Sony T200 the other week and overall I like the feel and useability of the camera. However, I would like to use it to its maximum and need some advice.

What should be the normal picture size to use? Bearing in mind I will want to print photos at 4x6 and 5x7, A4 as well, and view on HD plasma. I have been using the 16.9 1980x1080 mode, is this a good general mode to use all the time or will it make my photos seem out of proportion?

We have been taking quite a few blury pics with the camera, more than the previous Pentax point and shoot one that broke. We have left in on auto everything.

When I have it on face recognition, it doesnt always bring up the little square that follows the faces, sometimes it doesnt other times it does, any advice?

I know its a point and click and so its sposed to be stupid proof, but I know there are some settings and stuff I should get sorted before I continue taking pics, its still a little confusing.

Any tips and advice greatly appreciated?

    cheers and merry xmas!!

I received this camera a week ago. I also have difficulty with the various features. 1 thing that can mess up your pictures is not having the setting on auto. If you are experimenting that is fine but if you want the picture for sure, put it back on auto. I have found 2 sites that helped me. One is SONY Cyber-shot DSC-T200: PLEASURE. I do not have the site, but if you type that in, it is an interactive site that is helpful. The other is the same but you type WIDE AND TOUCH SCREEN EXPERIENCE. I have saved them and the locations of the features are finallysinking in to my thick head! LOL

I think I would shot with the highest quality image you can unless you are shooting to post a web shot picture for ebay or something. I am not sure but the blurry images could be from motion. Turn the IS on or use a flash.

Well after having this camera for over a month I am quite disappointed with it as a point and shoot digi camera. The auto settings dont make the flash go at the correct light, its like its a faulty camera, sometimes under nearly no light the flash wont even go. And as far as response gos I find the camera ordinary, I miss so many shots as I hit the button and then it seems to think about it before taking the shot, it just seems really slow.
My previous pentax digi cam was heaps better than this one. Might search for some owners of the camera for advice.

With a lot of point-and-shoots, owner expectations are a problem. We have been taught to think that cameras are magic now and will take perfect pictures in all conditions. That's far from the truth. P&S cameras are definitely much better than they used to be. But learning some technique is still the key to getting great photos. I did a review of the T50 about a year ago and was able to get very good photos in all kinds of conditions.

I recommend you take a look at my Point-and-Shoot Digital Camera Tips article. It has a bunch of basic tips techniques that I think will help you.

And please post a review for your T200 in our reviews section. We need more user reviews for that camera.

Read and write Sony Cybershot DSC-T200 reviews >>

Let me know if you've got any questions. I will try to help you learn to get better pictures with your camera. But reading the article above is the best place to start.
