The lens construction consists of 16 elements in 10 groups, 1 special ED lens, 1 anomalous dispersion optical and 2 ED aspherical elements, with HD Coating to reduce flare and ghosting.




Ricoh says the HD Pentax-DA* 16–50mm F2.8 ED PLM AW is the first large aperture Pentax lens to use an 'advanced pulse motor' (PLM) focusing motor. You can also press the shutter button halfway and quickly turn the focus ring to use manual focus.






The lens can also focus as close as 0.3 meters, providing a maximum magnification of 0.24x with 9 aperture blades for beautiful round bokeh. It supports electric aperture adjustment with Pentax KAF4 mount cameras.
