Newbie needs help with Dimage X1

I want to use all the facilities of this product but am green when it comes to technical stuff. I have read the manual but am still clueless.
    a) What size memory card will I need to video record for an hour?
    b) Is it called an sd card?
    c) Are those on ebay ok?
    d) How will I know if it is compatible?

I often miss what I am aiming to photograph as the camera seems to takes ages to actually shoot. Why is it so slow? Am I doing something wrong or have got incorrect settings?
I mostly photograph holiday and social events and the photos are fine but when I use for pics on ebay etc, the pics always look like cartoons!
    Any help would be appreciated.

A rather important item, that you did not mention...which camera are you using?

Accepted photo standards in technique and composition are the tools used to judge photo quality.

Uh Ron, there's a hint in the title "help with Dimage X1"

We gave up on Minolta, my wife had the Z1, I had the A1/A2 and the A2 was a backward step.
Higher resolution, more noise, slower to operate, worse AF.
Importantly for us we learned that those slow P&S don't do motorsport very well.
