    Is this info fact?

Hi, I was reading a review on another forum, not as good as this one though and saw this part of a buyers review of the Sony Alpha 100
'2) The noise issue at ISO 600 ISO 1600. After I made the purchase I found Sony has a fix for the Noise issue.

You connect your camera to the computer, download the fix and save on your memory card. Once you discount your camera from the computer and restart it, it will ask you if you want to update your software. Once the software is update, the noise issue is completly gone. I have less noise then the canon and the nikon.'

Has anyone tried this 'fix' and if so, does it work?
    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Is this info fact?

A few months ago there was an upgrade in the firmware (the software of the camera) for the A100. The new version is the 1.04 and some users claim that improves the noise at high ISO (I upgraded from 1.02, but can't tell the difference).
Anyways, if you have a version older than 1.04 (to check this press MENU and then the display button - the one below menu) and if you want to upgrade, here's a link with more info and instructions: http://photoclubalpha.com/2007/10/21...re-update-104/

On the other hand, you can use noise reduction software, "noiseware comunity" and "noise ninja" both have free versions of their software that you can try.

Hi pisco, once more my friend, so many thanks for the advice. I really am a silly old duffer trying to take pics. Modern technology of any sort and me just don't seem to click. Thanks.
