AF to MD adapter?

Has anyone ever seen an adapter to mount a Minolta/Sony AF lens on an MD mount? Or AF to any other mount? There are lots of MD to AF adapters, but I need one to go the other way. - TF

Other way around. I want to mount my Minolta AF 100/2.8 macro lens on the front of an MD mount Minolta bellows. The adapter would also need an aperture ring. - TF

Hmm I can't say I've ever seen one. I do remember coming across a site that specializes in lens adapters.. I'll see if I can dig that up again..

Ok I can't seem to find that site again. However, I'm beginning to think that such an adapter doesn't exist. The problem is aperture control. An adapter could be made to stop down the AF lenses, but you wouldn't ever know what you have the AF lens stopped down to. The adapter could be made with specific stop marks for a specific lens, but throw on a zoom or lens with different aperture range and you'd be out of luck. So I'm guessing this adapter doesn't exist since it sounds like more trouble than it's worth. Though making one without aperture control (means you'd be shooting wide open all the time) is feasible.

Interesting problem.

I went the other way, using a MD bellows and MD lenses on my Maxxum 7000 bodies. Fortunately the older lenses are pretty inexpensive, and many are sharp as a tack. I also use MD extension tubes for convenience.

The big problem in using AF lenses on a manual body is the aperture control. I don't even know how the cameras signals operate. Maybe a good repair shop, or repair manuals could shed some light on this, then design an adapter for your needs. Then see a good machinist. Wow, seems like spending a lot to accomplish the job. Like I say, interesting.
