Doesn't sound like too much new. I've also read the rumors about quick live view, and a focus mechanism which eliminates back-focus (is this possible??). Considering its Sony, 15 megapixels seems like not a whole lot, I would have expected something more like 16-18. No matter, doubt I'll upgrade to this one. I read they may upgrade the battery - why!? Must be one kickass battery, because the one on the A700 is terrifically wonderful already.
I for one hope that bright, sharp, large pentaprism overrides the ambition for live-view. It probably wont though .
I wish it was also APS-H (1.2x-1.3x), I would maybe even spring for that before the A900 then.
Agree--- the a700 is a fine camera
the 900 needs work < I bet Sony gets it together with that camera soon
a new A800 would work perfectly for me. I will keep my fingers crossed , if its not before the vacation season or I will have to go with a Nikon 700
sold all my gear except for on second back up camera so I am ready and waiting
I hope something comes up soon.
The slight bump in FPS would be nice, as well as more AF improvements, including some way to address BF/FF issues, whether it be like the a900 with manual, savable adjustments, or automated somehow. A little bump in MP is fine as long as it's not at the expense of noise... I still don't need live view or video for what I do, so no worries there...
Anyway, I won't hold my breath about the above specs... Soo many difference rumors going around, I'll on look forward to something once it's officially announced... Even then, who knows... My a700 still treats me quite well...
I wouldn’t get it now either since I only had my 700 for a year now. I just like thinking about new gear and features. The a700 is a fine camera and such a joy to use and will last me awhile! My main focus is buying lenses.
Right now it looks like the soonest we might see an a800 or a700 successor will be in the fall with a Christmas release. Anything that can be said about such model at this point is nothing but pure speculation. The new a200/300 series models will probably be announced shortly and available in summer.
