you know how facebook has a "like" button?

Is it possible in any way to put that kind of feedback on pr.com posts? I think it would be cool to be able to just click a "thumbs up" to indicate that we like a photo or post, without having to add a comment. Not because I'm lazy, but because I think more photos would get more feedback if it was easy to just click "I like this." For instance, I like many of the photos in the May Project thread, but don't want to take up comment space just to say, "hey, I like this photo and that photo."

Maybe some of our threads that don't get ANY responses might get something if it was easy to just click a thumbs up. I feel awfully discouraged sometimes when I post and get absolutely no response.


I would refrain from putting a "thumbs down" button, though. Negativity without explanation is never a good thing. But a little positive feedback goes a long way. I know, personally, my self-esteem has shot way up (how pathetic, hey?) ever since facebook added the "I like this" option to our pages. I am realizing that more people are reading my page than I thought, just because they take the time to click a thumbs up button. I doubt they would have posted comments otherwise.

I see that more as a Gallery function than a forum feature.
The Gallery is a different beast, doesn't work the same way as the Forums and there's little cross-over between the two.

We have a smiley icon you can add to a forum reply, using GO ADVANCED instead of just using the ordinary reply box at the bottom of the page.
And as you can see in this reply, there is a thumbs down icon too.

So you can do what you want with a little effort - use the advanced editor and set the message icon to "post", "thumbs down", "wink", "red face", "talking", "unhapy", "angry", "smile", "cool", "question", "exclamation" * , "lightbulb", "arrow" **, "thumbs up" ***

With a little tweaking****, those icons could be made to do exactly what you want.

* exclamation is a green circle with a right-facing arrow
* * arrow is a green circle with a right-facing arrow identical to exclamation
*** thumbs up is a blue face with a wink identical to wink

**** so fix the thing already, give us the thumbs up icon that the hover tooltip says the second wink ought to be !
