    Unable to post images...

I have not been able to post an image in VF. I've tried numerous times and on more than one occasion. No matter what I do, nothing shows up. It just will not post. I'm doing it the same way I've always done it. I had this problem in the past, but it corrected itself after a few days.

    Thanks for any help.

I'm sorry, Liz. I'm going to need a lot more information. What browser are you using? Are you getting any errors? If so, can you tell me exactly what they are and exactly when you see them?

I'm using the latest IE browser. No errors.

When I attempt to post an image via the URL (Smugmug), nothing shows up on the page. No message, no error. The page is totally blank.

When I had the problem a few weeks ago on the Project Forum, Jimmy B had the same problem. Then it got fixed.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the added information, Liz. We fixed the problem with uploading problems to the forums. But I didn't realize there was a problem with linking images. I'll check it out for you today. Thanks for letting me know

No problem, Liz. Photo posts have been down on the forums and broken photo posting tools certainly won't encourage people to share.

Here's a little test, from my Flickr photos...

Hmmm - that worked. Maybe it's a problem specific to Smugmug? Can you give me an example URL from your Smugmug account, Liz? Just copy and paste the link so I can take a look at it, please.

    Re: Unable to post images...

Well, I am here to confirm...it happened to me as well I would say there is a photo upload glitch / concern,John. Recently while attempting to upload an image... I got the big white screen that stated

MESSAGE 403 FORBIDDEN: YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO POST BULK URL images. ECT...

Funny thing is that the photo goes into my image que, if I hit upload on 3 pages separate times it uploads, then I have to edit the image to add text, title, keywords...ect

I did a system reboot, no difference. Using Firefox & a reliable laptop... both of which I never have issues with.

    Good luck !

    Rick

I am able to post Smugmug images on other websites without any glitches - just not this one.

Yeah, that's definitely a problem with the site, Rick. Was this on the forums or the gallery? And at exactly what point in the upload process did it happen?

    Thanks for letting me know.

I understand that, Liz. But in order to isolate the problem I need more details. Can you try to post a photo in this thread or just cut and paste the URL of one of your Smugmug photos here?

    Ok......

    Here you go.....

ETA: It worked this time! Sometimes it does work. This is the first time it worked for a while. The last day I tried was the same time I posted the problem in this thread. It would not work then.

Ha ha! Well isn't that always how it goes. You take the car to the mechanic and the problem disappears. You call the IT guys in to check your computer and it magically fixes itself

So the problem is ether intermittent or it's been fixed. I can't say. But we know more than we did before you posted this. Can you please proceed as if it's fixed but keep a close eye on it. Expect it to break each time and if it does, please write down as much information as possible, leave the bad post alone, and send me a link so I can take a look at it.

Also, I've asked photographers friends in a FB group I use to test it also. If anyone else here uses Smugmug, please try to share some photos from your Smug page and let me know if you have any problems.

    Thanks, Liz

    Re: Ok......

John......another type of "glitch?" showed up.

Please check my new thread "Got Pets?" on VF. When I uploaded the images I could not see anything except what I typed on the page. However, I posted the image blindly - Then I submitted the reply - and the photos showed up, but they are somehow attached to each other. My typing the cats' names in between does not show up. It's because I could not see where I was posting the images since they did not show up until I submitted the reply.

    Got a Pet? Post here!

    Thanks.

    Which Upload Tool?

    Liz-
There are two photo upload tools. I've included a screenshot to show where they both appear. Which one did you use for your kitty cat photo post? Do you always use the same one?

Thanks for your help. I think it's time we finally get this all sorted out and maybe even try to simplify the process a bit.

    Another question:

When you uploaded the kitty photos, you said you couldn't see the photos until you submitted the whole post. Did you try the "preview" button? And did you see some text in the box that looked like this?

    forums-attach-text.jpg

That text is actually the code for the photo. If you press the "Preview Post" button, you should see the photo in the post. You can copy that code and paste it anywhere in the post you want it to appear.

I saw that specific text before I clicked preview. Actually I did see the photos for the first time when I pressed "preview post." However, they were as they are now - the bottom one clipping off the lower part of the top photo. And the words "Molly" and "Jeremy" were not above each photo, but to the left - as it is now. Since I could not see the photo initially (just the "attach" words), I could not figure out where to type - so I didn't type anything else but the cats' names.

Is that the way it is supposed to work? Usually I can type something and the photos will fit under it, but since I couldn't see the photos, the words landed on the left of the page.

Hope this is clear. Thanks again.

Just wanted to check in and let you know I haven't forgotten about you. I have been trying to replicate what happened in your kitty cat photo post and haven't been able to do it, yet.
