Site down for maintenance error

The past couple of weeks I keep getting the error that the site is down for maintenance due to database errors. It's happening a lot it seems. I wonder if this has to do with the blank page problems too. Sometimes the site gets real slow and there are few people online. I know it's not my end thats slow...DSL 5MB line.
Just curious though.

There was a software upgrade last night. It should improve performance. It probably also accounts for any errors encountered in the past 12 hours.
