    PJ a suggestion

    Hey PJ,

I was looking at some of the camera reviews and have a suggestion on the ISO examples. It would be best to shoot the higher, 800 and up ISO shots at night for a better perspective on the noise as dark or black objects show the noise so much better than light objects.

    Just a thought on that.

Not a bad idea - of course in the studio you can make your own day and night whenever. I think it would be helpful to have a shadow area in the test shot because this is one of the first places that noise becomes obvious. Never really thought about it before but it does make a lot of sense.

    Good Idea

That's a great idea. And I'm very happy to have some feedback on the pro reviews. I'm proud of what we've done. But I'm sure there's room for improvement.

Let me think about how to best do this. I like the idea, but I don't want to replace the high ISO studio sample. The whole point of those is that we have the same content and exposure of the same scene at all ISO settings. But we could certainly add a low light shot of some sort. I'll think about it and try something for low light in upcoming reviews. If anyone has any ideas on how to do this, let me know. The important thing is that it's fairly simple and I can shoot it the same way every time.

I was specifically thinking of concert shots, where shadow areas in the background are much darker than the subject. Here's an example of what I mean- but I'm not sure how to set up something like this in a studio so it's repeatable. The original is an ISO800 jpeg from the Fuji S2, and the noise looks pretty good to me - I don't mind a little in a case like this.

    Not Likely

I don't think I'm going to be doing regular concert shots for the reviews

But I am thinking about doing an outdoor tripod landscape at the nearby universiry campus. I think that would do the trick. Maybe I'll shoot one tonight, with the Sigma.
