    Photography Review chat room?

I agree. I usually "chat" through pm's here but, would be great if there was an actual chatroom. Lots of forums have chat rooms set-up. how hard would it be to add one here PJ? If not many an IRC room? Been a while since I've used IRC but was always great for chatting.

I agree ..and would use it frequently. I already use Mirc - a PR channel would be fine, unless there was a dedicated chatroom connected to the site.

    Re: Photography Review chat room?

I used to be a chat room addict.
It may not be bad when such a room is attached to a dedicated community as everyone that would attend would have the same interest.
However, I would be willing to bet a substantial sum that there would be those who would want to dominate conversations with their personal ideologies, political rants, and woe to me sob stories.
Its worth a try and with our scattered time zones would probably only attract a few at a time.

I'd go for an IRC room. I've moderated a small one before, if you need me.

i have to say we have talked about this on multiple r/c forums - the consensus was always the same - that alot of good info would be lost in a chat room and we decided to keep the conversations to the boards - it was decided that if people wanted to chat or whatever there are too many instant messengers that will allow for a quick chat group to be set up

Hmmm, good point Ben, hadn't really thought about that. Most of the chatting I do with members here is "Where did you end up shooting today?", "How was work?", etc. NOw that you mention it, if we did set-up a chatroom there is a good chance of it turning into a spot for people trying to seek quick answers to their questions. There would would have to be some rules laid down against it if anything did get put together.

    Are you serious?
That's like saying "what is Google" !

Skype is a system for chat, and voip calls, and cheap landline calls.
We use it at work for calls from the UK to the developers in India.

    Re: Photography Review chat room?

For what it's worth - I have gmail which I am very happy with and never had problems with it. It's google's form of email. It has a lot of features - one of which is a "chat" feature. It's not a chat room - but you can chat with anyone else who has google if you choose that feature. I've actually chatted with Lara a few times in the past since we both have google. I've never "chatted" with anyone else, and I don't know if more than one person can chat at a time.

Just fyi......trivia.....whatever....I know it doesn't answer the PR question!

    Re: Photography Review chat room?

A group chat can be done on yahoo too, I am a manager on another type of site and rules can be made but trust me, I spend more time "policing" than chatting sometimes, it wears on you quick. I think it would be fine for the people here but I can only imagine the "drive by" questions....
