    Photo deletion - permission denied?

Hello, Can someone please tell me why an option to delete a photo is provided in the edit process, but when attempted, I'm advised I don't have permission to do so?? Martin.

Martin, I can't answer your question, but if you still want to delete the photo, here's something you can try.

On any forum page, go to My Account (link on tool bar under main page banner). On your account page, the last link of your Control Panel (left side of page) should be attachments. Click on that, and it should bring up a page listing all the photos you've uploaded to this site.

You now have the option of selecting (check box on right) a file and deleting it...

Thanks for the tip Asylum Steve. Unfortunately clicking on the attachments link returns a message advising I have no attachments. The FAQ is a bit light on concerning operational procedures although a forum search indicated at least one other user has experienced this problem. The advice then was to (a) make sure you are logged in (I am) and verify it's my photo! (it is) Still no joy, does the fact that someone commented affect this action? I'm not deleting it because of the comment, more (imo) that it's a crap photo that I wish I hadn't posted in the first place. Martin

    Now I'm curious...

    Martin,

Could you link to the post with the pic you want deleted?

Something weird seems to be going on. I looked at the list of your posts, and I don't see any with photos attached. On the other hand, your avitar says you have 17 total posts, yet your profile page only lists six...

    Hmmm...

I noticed you have some shots in the gallery. Is it one of those?

This is in the gallery, right? This has come up before and I may have dropped the ball on getting it fixed. I'm going to talk to the developers about it right now.

Thanks and sorry about the problem!

Try it now. I made some changes and successfully deleted a photo from my super secret, non-admin gallery. If it still doesn't work, please let me know. And keep in mind that if you uploaded that photo to more than one gallery, you'll have to remove it from each gallery. So it may not disappear from your gallery after you first delete it. I had to remove mine three times.

Re: Photo deletion - permission denied?

Hello Photo-John / Asylum Steve. Well it seems the complexities of the site provide for more than one way to skin the proverbial cat! After a little exploration I have since found that if I go to my personal profile via the gallery, (that is by clicking my name under anyone of my thumbnails in gallery view), there are various useful bits of information and links such as number of photos, number of comments, number of times photos viewed, and at the bottom under a title "Photo Notifications" is a link "manage photos". This takes me to a page where I can optionally list all photos by category submitted, and delete them selectively as required. Although it doesn't seem to show everything I have uploaded for some reason. Anyway, problem solved, at least for now, hope this info is useful. It seems there are two personal profiles, one concerned with forum information and the other concerning photo submissions. I have also tried your suggestion photo-John and yes it works and yes I realise now that depending on the number of categories the image was submitted to, there may be multiple instances of the photo to delete. Thanks for all your help and suggestions guys. Martin

I didn't even know about that page! Thanks! I'll have to take a look.
